No Exercise Often Increases Risk of More Watertown Pain & Disease Progression

Do something. Walk. Stretch. Move. Patients who suffer with pain benefit when they do something. No exercising is a risk for deteriorating pain, both pain in the body and pain in the mind in the form of depression. Watertown Wellness Center sees many Watertown back pain patients in pain who also suffer with depression. Watertown Wellness Center also understands that when our Watertown chiropractic patients do something, they get better in body and mind.

NO EXERCISE RAISES RISK OF STENOSIS PROGRESSION

Spinal stenosis is a common diagnosis. It is the reduction of the spinal canal area due to degeneration. A recent study reported that risk of spinal stenosis progression is higher for those who had spondylolisthesis, had pain (in leg and/or back) when walking, and more severe stenosis. The lack of therapeutic exercise was also discovered to a risk factor for the progression of spinal stenosis. (1) Back pain sufferers like those who have spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis benefit from exercise! Watertown Wellness Center helps each of our chiropractic patients find what exercise is right for them.

EXERCISE IMPROVES FUNCTION

Nonspecific low back pain sufferers improved their functional disability status more with stabilization and/or McKenzie exercises than with conventional exercise programs. (2) Notice though that exercise helped, conventional or not!

EXERCISE IMPROVES DEPRESSION

For many back pain sufferers with specific or non-specific back pain, chronic or not, may well find themselves a little down when their back pain hangs around longer than desired. It is not uncommon. Again, exercise to the rescue! Another study reported that exercise (low dose or moderate-dose strength and conditioning) helped decrease depressive symptoms in adults with chronic low back pain. Combining exercise and manual therapy was a bonus! (3) Watertown Wellness Center brings in as many positive approaches to back pain relief as possible to help our Watertown back pain patients! The Cox® Technic System of Spine Pain Management is one of those approaches.
